Monkeying Around with Curious George at the Orlando Science Center

Dear friends

I wish I had time to write a full description of the new Curious George exhibit at the Orlando Science Center (   There are a lot of hands-on educational activities for young children (preschool and early elementary).  In the adjacent room, there is also a reading nook stocked with many of the Curious George books.

You can read my blog post about the rest of the museum here: Florida Field Trips #3: The Orlando Science Center
Here is what the Orlando Science Center web site says about the Curious George exhibit:

Taking place in the neighborhood where Curious George lives with The Man in the Yellow Hat, visitors will recognize familiar characters and places featured in the classic stories and the popular PBS KIDS television Series. Here are some of the fun activities waiting for you and your family:
  • Using machines to move materials, design your very own building and construct it here with our building materials in our Construction Site area.
  • Explore the galaxy with Curious George by hoping on the rocket that George took on his space adventures! Pose for pictures with George in his space suit and email them home.
  • Ever wanted to try climbing a fire escape just like firefighters do? Now, you can! By climbing the fire escape, children jump into Curious George’s world to learn about color, light, and shadow.
  • Curious about how George came to be? Take a walk through our Museum Within the Museum to learn new things about George. Follow the works of H.A. and Margret Rey, their escape to safety during World War II, and learn about Curious George throughout the years.
From the classic stories by H.A. and Margret Rey, this new exhibit will inspire children’s curiosity as they get hands-on interactive play based on science, math, and engineering. Don’t miss out on playing with Curious George. Come in and get curious with us today!
